At Labelsprint we take our responsibilities to the environment very seriously. Both in how we print, and what we print on. This section of our site will explain exactly how we feel we offer the greenest label solutions in the industry.

Energy and waste reduction in production
  • This is a constant focus point of our toner engineers
  • Toner making requires some energy to make small particles
    • In traditional produced toner to make pressurized air
    • In chemical produced toners to filter, dry and treat the solvent or water
  • Investments in new toner production technology reduced our energy consumption with more than 30% in the last 4 years
  • Re-use of materials and big bag handling resulted in a waste reduction of more than 50 % in the same period !
Green Energy !
  • From January 1st 2010, all toner production at our plant in Heultje is done with certified 100 % green electricity
  • The heat generated during manufacturing (especially compressing air) is reused to heat up the buildings which reduced the need for natural gas to nearly zero !
  • This mark will be placed on bottles and boxes
  • Recyclability and working towards longer lifetime
100 % recyclable paper substrates
  • This is a very hot topic in the (digital) printing world
    • Traditional offset and dry toner technology are perfectly compatible with existing deinking and recycling installations
    • Most of the inkjet systems, UV offset or liquid toner systems cannot be deinked (particles too large, too small or too compatible with the water)
    • Very high concern for paper makers in view of the volume switch taking place from traditional to digital techniques
    • Being "green" is not a partial option - it should be beneficial (or at least as good) in all steps of the lifetime of printed material
Designing for longer life

    • A positive test indicates that the chemical might act as a carcinogen

    • to determine the toxicity of the test substance against algal growth by exposing algae at the exponential growth phase to the test substance and measuring the growth inhibition rate against the control
What is the Carbon Footprint of the Xeikon Technology ?
  • In Finland, the VTT (Technical Research Centre) has a lot of know how from the paper industry (Energy Consumption, Sustainable paper making, carbon footprint of paper)
  • We have started up a cooperation to calculate the carbon footprint of our technology compared to offset printing and other digital technologies
  • The Xeikon technology is compatible with the following important ecolabels that can be achieved by printers

At Labelsprint we have chosen our material partners very carefully. All of our suppliers have spent years developing a range of eco friendly label materials, encompassing the face paper, adhesive and backing paper.
