We have printed on the first biodegradable print stock using a eco friendly adhesive though at present this is expensive the costs will come down with improvements in manufacture and volumes in demand.
For the digital printed label approach we have lead in the UK our Xeikon label presses do not use solvent based ink so we do not contaminate stock, we do not abate fumes to atmosphere or create wet waste. We do not require printing plates so we save the environmental impact of wastefully making expensive plates, transporting, cleaning, storing and disposing of polymer or metal printing plates. For short run labels including bottle labels, A4 labels, gloss labels, paper labels, plastic labels, removable stickers and waterproof labels our set-up material waste is much less than conventional print and we minimise the amount of packing materials required.
