One of the most significant benefits is that our digital approach does not use any carrier component to transfer ink to stock. In traditional Printed Labels ink is carried to the print material by a carrier plate, blanket, screen or cylinder. A carrier plate or screen is required for each colour and the plates cost typically £50 each. Although great advances continue to be made in plate manufacture the impact of carrier plates extends beyond the cost. Plate manufacture delays the label print process with added operations. Plates damage the environment because making polymer or metal plates is not only expensive they consume resources and contribute to pollution they also need to be transported, cleaned with solvents and then scrapped after a short life.
Our digital labels print process uses dry toner that is photostatically deposited direct on the adhesive label material. The web then passes over a fixing drum that fuses toner to the label in a solvent free non-contact print process. This printed label process delivers wide tonal range from gentle highlights to deep solids and creates a large colourfast gamut from CMYK colours.
We are entirely digital and we have delivered over 40,000 different printed label designs using digital toner 4 colour process colours, occasionally adding our opaque white on clear labels.
